Biography
Raffaella Benetti was born in Rovigo in 1961. The artist’s interests start from philosophy which, however, do not remain an end in themselves, but end up finding a field of application such as that of artistic representation.
Raffaella Benetti studied at the European Center of Venice for the Crafts of Conservation of Architectural Heritage, also in Venice at the Slovenian Public Exhibition Center Curatorial Practices and Contemporary Arts and in Rome, Architecture and Arts for the Liturgy at the Pontificio Ateneo Sant’Anselmo where she began a path of research on Byzantine icon and art. The artist’s work develops on different media such as sculpture, photography, installation and crosses border disciplines such as design. A path aimed at defining a coherent poetic over time even if characterized by a ductile and constantly changing writing. In his research a dominant theme is that of Time, its unstoppable flow, its crossing of Things, the idea of Passage, of Fragility, of the Ephemeral of our existence, as in the theme of Vanitas repeatedly addressed looking for a contemporary declination . Living in the center of nature is a necessity for the artist. The natural elements, portrayed in the photographs or the starting point for the installation interventions, become the linguistic code and the tool with which she investigates the relationship between nature and contemporary man. She pays special attention to the symbol, an element that enters his plastic language to represent the synthesis of that mixture of feelings, attitudes, actions that weave together the dynamic and meditative dimension of thought as the main human activity.
